Due to the Rock Star status enjoyed by Dr. Schuler, many folks have expressed an interest in joining us for lunch and the afternoon portion of our meeting. They include staff from DCNR, including Ryan Reed, Emily Domoto and our new policy director, Nicole Faraguna.

10:00 a.m. – Call to Order, Chairman Surra.

10:05 a.m. – Roll call and review of the September meeting minutes, Bill Andahazy.

10:10 a.m. – Welcome Special Guest, Jason Detar, PFBC Fisheries Biologist – Jason will give a quick overview of the history of Fisherman’s Paradise and the H.R. Stackhouse school. 

10:25 a.m. – Noon, Regular Business Meeting 

Spencer Simon – Collaboration in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Parks Conservatory, City Parks, Mayor’s Office and PFBC.

Paula Piatt – Revisit and possibly set-aside the Commissioner evaluation process; diversity on the boards; outreach for the next set of commission openings.

Don Williams – At Robb’s request, Don was excused from our September meeting to attend a meeting of the newly formed Conservation Coalition.  He’ll summarize the meeting and his ongoing efforts for the disabled.

Carolyn Mahan recently conducted a CWD presentation; she’ll share feedback/concerns.

12:00 p.m. – Lunch.  There will be at least ten special guests joining us for lunch; see below. Please, make them feel welcome by inviting them to your table.

1:00 p.m. – CWD Flash Mob.  Welcome Special Guest, Krysten Schuler, Ph.D, Wildlife Disease Ecologist and Assistant Professor - Cornell Wildlife Health Lab.  Dr. Schuler will discuss CWD at the national and international level and will share success stories from other states.  Time permitting, she may touch on economics, hunter participation and the possibility of a food safety test.

2:00 – 2:15 – Q and A.  Open Discussion.

2:00 p.m. – Welcome Special Guest, Dr. Lisa Murphy, Associate Professor of Toxicology at Penn Vet; she’ll review a new collaborative effort between the PGC and Penn Vet called the Pennsylvania Wildlife Futures Program.  We’ll also spend some time reviewing the PGC’s new CWD Management Plan, which is now in its public comment period.  How can we participate?

Due to the Rock Star status enjoyed by Dr. Schuler, many folks have expressed an interest in joining us for lunch and the afternoon portion of our meeting.  They include staff from DCNR, including Ryan Reed, Emily Domoto and our new policy director, Nicole Faraguna.  Staff from the PGC will include Courtney Colley, the PGC’s CWD Information Specialist, Matthew Schnupp, Director of the Bureau of Wildlife Management, Andrea Korman, (replacing Jared Oyster) as the new CWD Actions Coordinator.  We’ll also be introduced to the PGC’s new Veterinarian, Dr. Andrew DiSalvo.  Finally, Dr. Justin Brown, PSU Assistant Teaching Professor, will be on hand to participate.
